Gessamí Olesa — la terra porta el compàs

la terra porta el compàs articulates a performative investigation into memory, inheritance and their forms of bodily inscription. Through the relationships between body, matter and voice, the project explores forms of transmission that exceed the archive and the tensions between rootedness, weight and resistance. Thus, the action takes shape as a sensitive device that brings intimate experience into relation with shared memory.

Olesa’s artistic practice (Alcanar, 1993) investigates the relationships between body, territory, memory and archive through hybrid languages such as installation, audiovisual work, performance, writing and poetry. The Terres de l’Ebre occupy a central place in her research as a field of tensions between memory, rurality, disappearance, rootedness and transformation. She is interested in action as a form of embodied thinking, a place where that which cannot be fully explained can appear as gesture, friction and presence.
