Recess time is the moment of the day when you do what you want, talk about what you want and with whom you want, without anyone controlling you.
Many things happen during recess. It is not only a moment dedicated to resting or having a snack: it is a space where we awaken our social skills (communication, cooperation, conflict resolution, exchange and negotiation) and also a space accessible to everyone, so that the same people —those with more space or more power— do not always dominate.
We wanted the M|A|C courtyard to be a friendly, comfortable and warm place, for diverse audiences (including families), to spend July evenings together, in a courtyard turned into the art center’s cinema room and a summer meeting space, with a bar and live music.
