Lo que tiene vuelo. Laía Argüelles Folch
This exhibition explores, through a material and immaterial notion of inheritance, the movements and transformations of expressive gesture, particularly the gestures of drawing and writing, and the ways in which we internalize them until they become our own, accompanying us in our search for and construction of meaning in the world.
Drawing on materials found or rediscovered both within and beyond the artist’s archive, as well as on revisited places, the works that make up this project return to old traces, paths already traveled, and rewritten words in order to reposition themselves around them and, from that point, engage in an act of transformation. The techniques employed range from screen printing on textiles to field sound recording, including frottage, graphite-powder stenciling, and monotype printing on paper.
