O Jogo da Glória (El Joc de l’Oca). Anna Jotta, Allen Ruppersberg
Ana Jotta and Allen Ruppersberg are two artists of the same generation who share a passion for collecting material from popular culture, including books, printed matter, objects, and texts. References to this found material are a constant feature of their work, as is their interest in drawing, redrawing and arranging it in the form of collages, or reassembling it in various ways. Language is another recurring element in both artists’ work.
The central element of the exhibition will be a mural drawing by the Portuguese artist Ana Jotta, created specifically for the occasion, which will serve as a framework for showcasing other works by her and her American contemporary Allen Ruppersberg. This is not a collaborative project, but rather an exercise in bringing together two voices that conceive art as an independent practice, detached from trends and constructed without distinction between art and life.
