Panoràmic. A Decade of Visual Culture
Panoràmic. A Decade of Visual Culture brings together five essays that explore the main debates that have shaped the festival’s first ten years while also reflecting on the present and future of the image. Published to mark the bicentenary of the first surviving photograph, the volume offers a critical perspective on the transformation of visual culture in an era shaped by artificial intelligence, social media, hyperconnectivity and the overproduction of images.
From complementary perspectives, Andrés Hispano, Mercè Alsina, Federica Matelli, Fèlix Pérez-Hita and Joan Fontcuberta address issues including the materiality of photography, the construction of identity, the exposure of intimacy, technological acceleration, memory and new ways of producing images. The volume also includes a foreword by Rosa A. Cruz.
More than a retrospective of Panoràmic’s first decade, this book is an invitation to understand how images transform the way we see and relate to the world at a time when visual communication plays a more decisive role than ever.
