Fermín Jiménez Landa proposes a collective walk through different points of the city of Barcelona, searching for trees featured in the city’s photographic archives. We retrace the locations from which old photographs were taken in order to observe the trees (or their absence) in the present day. Between one tree and the next, the route opens up conversations about botany, politics, acceleration, and urban legends.
At the end of the walk, we will meet at Homesession to share our research over a vermouth.
This activity emerges within the framework of the research project Study of Barcelona’s Vegetation, which explores the growth of the city’s vegetation through a cross-referencing of historical visual archives and the current state of its trees.

Fermín Jiménez Landa (Pamplona, 1979) works across installation, video, objects, and actions that often involve the participation or complicity of communities, institutions, or people outside the art world. His work explores the tensions between the everyday and the exceptional, the human and cosmic scales, the minimal gesture and its conceptual resonance. He often starts from situations and narratives in which the boundary between the most empirical reality and the most far-fetched anecdote becomes blurred. His works are less completed artefacts than fragments of ongoing processes: materials shaped through friction with the world, gestures and walks that fold back on themselves to reframe reality.
He has exhibited at the Manifesta 11 biennial, as well as at Artium, MUSAC, CA2M, Azkuna Zentroa, and Museo Oteiza, and at Künstlerhaus Bethanien, MAZ, Centro Botín, La Casa Encendida, and CCEMX, as well as in galleries such as Moisés Pérez de Albéniz, Travesía Cuatro, Nogueras Blanchard, and Àngels Barcelona. He has worked with Consonni, 1646, HIAP, and Centro de Arte FMJJ.
