Presentation of 'La novela de artista: La novela como medio en las artes visuales'
Why do artists write novels? What does the artist’s novel do to the visual arts? How should such a novel be experienced?
There is a growing number of visual artists today who create novels as part of larger artistic projects, favouring a type of art based on process and subjectivity and introducing concepts such as fiction, narrative and imagination. It is therefore possible to speak of a new medium in the visual arts.
The artist and researcher David Maroto presents The Artist’s Novel: The Novel as a Medium in the Visual Arts (Greylock Editorial), a two-volume book that combines a theoretical essay and a research project in the form of a novel. David Armengol, Artistic Director of La Capella, will talk to Maroto to unravel the content of the work.
