Presentation of the UNESCO-UIA WC 2026 student competition
The UNESCO-UIA student competition encourages students to participate, and invites global educational institutions to integrate research on Becoming, the theme of the UIA International Congress Barcelona 2026, into their teaching programmes for the 2024-2025 academic year. The contest focuses on proposals in free locations in their respective environments. However, students will be able to present academic projects regardless of whether they have been carried out under associated educational programmes. The contest will feature six different categories, which will reflect the six lines of work inherent in each Becoming. Architecture Week will serve as a launching pad for this contest.
The curatorship team of the UIA Barcelona 2026 International Congress will briefly present the UNESCO-UIA student competition, and will include the presence of all local and international universities, also through a live broadcast of the event. This activity includes a meeting with educational institutions, students and relevant people from the architectural and cultural context in order to be able to present and debate the main theme of the contest and to kick off all the activities prior to the 2026 International UIA Congress in Barcelona, which are expected to take place in Barcelona during the months before the congress.
