Presentation of the book 'Kathrin Böhm: Art on the Scale of Life'
A conversation between Elvira Dyangani Ose and Kathrin Böhm, on the occasion of the recent launch of Kathrin Böhm: Art on the Scale of Life, co-published by Sternberg Press, HDK-Valand, PUBLICS, and The Showroom.
This is a continuation of a conversation between Elvira Dyangani Ose and Kathrin Böhm that started during a major collaborative exhibition exploring over twenty years of Kathrin Böhm’s practice in two phases, entitled COMPOST. Kathrin Böhm: Turning the Heap and COMPOST: For Future Use, shown at The Showroom in London in 2021. This exhibition enabled a public editorial process involving 20+ years of Kathrin’s mostly collaborative work, sifting through, assessing, archiving and reformulating Böhm’s practice using her own methods of production – working one-on-one, collaboratively and in public. Kathrin Böhm: Art on the Scale of Life emerges as a key outcome of this process and offers a significant addition to debates on contemporary art, architecture, social action and public culture. Co-published with Sternberg Press, the book provides a comprehensive overview of Kathrin Böhm’s multifaceted, deeply collaborative and durational practice. Combining visual and textual material, it offers an overview of Böhm’s exceptional modus operandi.
