Revisions #4: Patricio Reig

Revisions is a series of exhibitions that revisits Piramidón’s collection through artists who have been residents of the centre for a significant period of time. These exhibitions bring works from different stages into dialogue in order to observe the evolution of each artist’s languages, techniques, and conceptual interests.

On this occasion, Revisions #4 focuses on Patricio Reig (San Juan, Argentina, 1959), who was a resident at Piramidón between 1993 and 2016. His work explores time, memory, and the fleeting nature of existence—central concerns of a practice that approaches photography as both archive and object. His search for representations of anonymity extends beyond unknown individuals found in archival photographs and flea markets; it is also present in objects, understood as symbols of presence and absence, and even in contemporary portraits that highlight certain personal traits while remaining unified under a shared anonymous criterion.

The selection includes two recent works by the artist alongside pieces from the collection, tracing a trajectory from 2000 to 2025: from an early pictorial work with a strong photographic component to his distinctive contemporary photography. In this way, the exhibition offers a continuous reading of his research while reactivating the collection as a living space, open to new interpretations from the present.
