Sargits, Martina Manyà
Martina Manyà transforms leftover materials from her painting practice using textile techniques. Older or discarded works, sketches, and painting offcuts are turned—through sewing, embroidery, dyeing, or weaving—into woven pictures and painterly tapestries that explore the points of intersection between painting and textiles.
Sargits champions the time, patience, and care involved in darning. By breathing new life into discarded materials, the project places manual labor at the heart of a reflection on repair and transformation, standing in contrast to the rapid pace of consumer society.
