torn a llom for the cultivation of the commons
Can artists and farmers find common ground in resistance? What happens when the lightness and attentiveness of artistic practice come into contact with the weight, materiality, and rhythms of agroecological practice? How might they influence one another?
As part of Júlia Soler’s research project “Diari de Camp”, we invite you to spend a morning at the Can Montmany farm in Collserola, where we will work, play, eat, and chat with our fellow farmers from Ortiga Coop.
A morning to engage our bodies, connect with the earth, experiment, and share ideas about the relationships between artistic practice, agricultural labor, caring for the land, and building a collective rebellion.

Júlia Soler is a consultant on regenerative agriculture and livestock projects and a local agroecological advocate. Trained in photography in Barcelona, she has developed her artistic career in Barcelona, New York, and Berlin, eventually focusing her practice on urban agriculture, permaculture, and regenerative development. She has participated in community-based agricultural initiatives and cooperatives in Europe and Catalonia, and currently combines agroecological consulting with collaboration on cultural projects. Her work seeks to connect art, agriculture, and ecology to foster collective processes of local agroecological transition and ecosystem regeneration.
L’Ortiga is an agroecological cooperative founded in 2009 with the goal of promoting and revitalizing sustainable agriculture in the area around Sant Cugat del Vallès and the Collserola mountain range. It produces organic food at the Can Monmany farm in Valldoreix, at the foothills of Collserola. The cooperative advocates for more conscious consumption, based on organic, locally sourced, seasonal, and small-scale farm products. It also offers practical resources and tools to both individuals looking to get started in gardening and professionals in the agricultural sector.Through educational programs designed for schools, it introduces children to agriculture and food, highlighting their educational and transformative potential. At the same time, it promotes social agriculture projects to provide people in vulnerable situations with access to organic food. L’Ortiga works to keep rural culture alive and build a food system that is more equitable, sustainable, and accessible to everyone.
This activity was carried out as part of Júlia Soler “Diari de Camp” research project, , carried out with the support of one of the Barcelona Crea – La Escocesa 2026 Artistic Research Grants.
