Artists have always appropriated the works of others in order to learn from them, celebrate them, dialogue with them, interpret them or reformulate them. The history of art has advanced through borrowings and adoptions that, beyond plagiarism, are the product of a natural evolution, because there is no “pure” culture or artist that starts from zero.

Equipo Crónica and Pablo Picasso are the perfect example of this “contamination”, appropriating works and styles from the past to speak of the present. Sometimes they do it with humor, cynicism or critical sense, sometimes as pure formal experimentation… from Las Meninas -work that they reread with passion- to El Greco, Goya, cubism or pop art, the two combined visits that we propose aim to discover this crossroads of languages and paradigms, identifying them and interpreting their meaning.

Anna Pou van den Bossche is an independent curator, professor at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya and the Escola Massana and directs the online school artperatothom. As an art popularizer she has published monographs on Picasso and Manolo Valdés (Equipo Crónica), among others. She also collaborates regularly with radio and television as an art specialist, content creator and presenter, in programs such as La Tarda (catRàdio), Tot Art (betevé), Àrtic (betevé), This is Art (TV3) or Planta Baixa (TV3).
