La Fabra Centre d'Art Contemporani

La Fabra Centre d’Art Contemporani is a public facility located on the Fabra i Coats site in the Sant Andreu district of Barcelona. It is an independent space dedicated to the research, production, exhibition and promotion of contemporary artwork since 2012.

Directed by Claudia Elies, La Fabra’s artistic programme shines the spotlight on agents in the local artistic context and on collaborative work between organisations and communities in Barcelona. The Centre has been conceived as a space that sparks a dialogue between contemporary creation and the city’s cultural fabric, taking on an international approach from an eco-feministic intergenerational perspective.

La Fabra stands out for its will to strike a balance between exhibitions and public and educational initiatives. Driven by Jordi Ferreiro, the latter take on a central role, gaining the same significance and rigour as the exhibition side, representing a device for institutional experimentation.

To drive this new phase forward, whilst upholding the Centre’s artistic autonomy, Barcelona City Council’s Institute of Culture (ICUB) and MACBA are joining forces to promote the Centre’s growth and consolidation, boosting its local, national and international projection.
