Amulet for a Good Death. With Martina Rogers and Som Provisionals
Amulets are small objects that were used in group ceremonies, carried on a daily basis, or accompanied the deceased on their journey to other worlds. In this workshop, in collaboration with Som Provisionals, we invite you to create a small ceramic object that can accompany you towards a good death. By shaping clay, we will collectively share reflections on death. This object will also become a memento mori, reminding us that we are mortal while, at the same time, connecting us to life.
Martina Rogers Manzano is a visual artist and cultural mediator. She is currently undertaking a contemporary ceramics residency at the Escola Municipal d’Art La Mercè to create her funerary trousseau. This workshop is part of her research and offers an opportunity to share her creative process.
Som Provisionals is an organisation based in Girona that advocates for approaching death with awareness and self-determination. It offers end-of-life accompaniment and funeral care, support for grieving processes, and outreach and research activities around death.
