Caca banal (Banal Poop), by Daniel Moreno Roldán

Caca banal (Banal Poop)

The term ‘shitposting’ is used in the digital sphere to describe a type of content that at first glance seems irrelevant or absurd. Memes, collages, self-animation, crude renderings, extreme mash-ups of questionable input. Banal Poop represents an exercise in digital archaeology that underlines how certain banal content typical of social media greatly surpasses the merely chaotic. The exhibition also explores its uses as a tool for social organisation and activism, its assimilation by the corporate world, and how this seemingly innocuous flow of information has largely shaped the ideological imaginary of various generations.

Daniel Moreno Roldán (Barcelona, 1990) is an artist and musician. He has recently exhibited his work at the Museu del Disseny (Barcelona), Art3 (Valence, France), Getxophoto (Getxo), Art-O-Rama (Marseille, France), Fluc (Vienna, Austria) and La Casa Encendida (Madrid), among others.

He also disseminates his work through the aid of comedic language codes online through various social media platforms.

He is a member and co-founder of the Club de Videojocs, a group of people interested in video games as more than just a form of entertainment. He also works as a music producer and sound designer, both for musical and theatrical projects and for audiovisual productions.
