Session led by Higo Mental. Marta Sesé y Ricardo Pérez-Hita

Higo Mental is a project which attempts to develop, based upon artistic practice and research, a body of critical thinking around images and imaginaries from the internet archive. They hold performative conferences in the form of a videological dialogue in which the alternation of imagery creates a critical narrative questioning the hegemonic system of representation. They have performed their practice at MNAC, MACBA, CA2M, Santa Mònica, Foc, Pols, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Las Cigarreras, Fira de Tàrrega, Homesession or Can Farrera, among others places.

Algorithmic Dérives is a performative conference which reflects upon the themes which the Higo Mental project has touched upon over the last ten years. Both in its contents — the internet as an archive, infrastructures, and anti-fascism, the image beyond representation — and in its forms — creation and collective experience, presence, feminist self-management in Barcelona. Throughout the session, in which the focus will also be on issues relating to algorithms, audiovisual materials which will form part of a future collective publication, will appear.

This activity is part of the Digital Arts Season

“Resilience, resistance, recovery” are the central thread of the second edition of the Vic Digital Arts Season, which explores the role of digital art as a vehicle for our coexistence in, and with, a context in constant imbalance.
