Dead on Arrival. Manuel Saiz Uranga
A work that reviews a wide range of possibilities of being dead and alive at the same time, in medicine, in history, in literature and in religious beliefs. It invites reflection on the principles on which these possibilities are based.
Manuel Saiz (Logroño, 1961) has been working for forty years as a visual artist in galleries, museums and international film and video art festivals. He has carried out solo projects at the Museo Nacional Reina Sofía in Madrid (One True Art, 2013), at the Tate Gallery in London (Art Summer University, 2008) and in numerous private galleries in Europe. In 1989 he represented Spain at the Sao Paulo Biennial. Since 1995 he has worked mainly on audiovisual projects and multimedia installations. Video Hacking (1998) received an honourable mention at the Hamburg Short Film Festival. Specialised technicians required: Being Luis Porcar (2005) won first prize at the Winterthur Kurzfilm Festival and an honourable mention at Transmediale 06, Berlin. Dead on Arrival (2016) was shown in the experimental section of the Rotterdam Film Festival. His work has been shown at the ICA London, the Museum of the Moving Image, NYC, the Oberhausen Film Festival, the European Media Art Festival Osnabrück and the London Film Festival among others.
