Meeting on the Carpet with Tere Recarens

Woman Life Freedom: Evolution of a Revolution

The carpet that gives its name to the exhibition “Woman Life Freedom: Evolution of a Revolution” is a work that Tere Recarens has drawn directly on the floor of Bòlit La Rambla.

This carpet, featuring a geometric scheme inspired by the tradition of the Chahar Bagh, presents different episodes and events from the history of Iran in a random sequence that blends past and present occurrences, functioning as a narrative that seeks to foster solidarity in the face of the many injustices affecting the country.

In this meeting, the artist will guide us through the history of Iran as we walk across the carpet and will present the expansion of her pictorial work developed in response to the events that have taken place in Iran in recent weeks.

The creation of this dispositif, conceived by the artist together with curators Anahita Nassir and Carles Guerra, makes it possible to integrate orality, performativity, and presence—elements that are central to Tere Recarens’ practice—into the historical framework embodied by the carpet.

This activity is organized in collaboration with AWL Gallery, on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition “At the Image’s Edge” by Youssef Taki. The opening will take place from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at AWL Gallery (C/ Santa Eugènia, 5, 17001 Girona).
