CACiS El Forn de la Calç

The Centre for Contemporary Art and Sustainability (CACiS) El Forn de la Calç is a private non-profit initiative founded in 2008, supported by the Calders City Council and the Government of Catalonia.

CACiS is a space dedicated to experimentation, research, and the dissemination of contemporary artistic and cultural practices, with the aim of encouraging debate, critical thinking, and reflection in order to promote new ways of understanding reality, fostering sustainability as a strategy for transformation.

The centre develops research, production, and exhibition projects across the conceptual and formal fields of contemporary art, especially those connected to ecology and the natural environment. Its activities are deeply linked to the unique characteristics of the site: a former quarry located within a well-preserved natural setting, where landscape, industrial heritage, and human activity coexist in dialogue.

The uniqueness of the lime kilns, emblematic heritage elements of the site, makes CACiS a singular space for creation, critical thought, and contemporary artistic experimentation.
