Aigua freda. Col·lectiu Pelussa (Mireia Garcia i Anna Llimós)

The communal laundries where women used to wash clothes did not have hot water. Aigua freda (Cold Water) is a project that recovers the historical memory of the city’s laundries and of the people who used them. The artists reflect on the social importance of these places, while also highlighting their urban and historical dimensions. Equally importantly, the project offers a renewed perspective on the political dimension of these practices and spaces of reproductive labour. The proposal is shaped, on the one hand, through historical documentation and testimonial accounts and, on the other, through artworks that connect the gestures and bodies of the women who washed in these heritage spaces.
