The Essential Idiots: an Artistic and Literary Look at the Figure of the Idiot With Martí Peran and Esperanza López Parada.

In connection with the exhibition “The Idiot” and the hundreds of characters gathered within it, the session proposes to explore the figure of the idiot in art, literature, and thought, aiming to recognize its attributes. Or perhaps the idiot is defined by having no qualities?

Esperanza López Parada is a poet, essayist, and translator, and she works as a professor of Latin American Literature at the Complutense University of Madrid. Her most recent poetry books are La rama rota (2006), Las veces (2014), and Un tiempo de gracia (2022).
