Opening of the exhibition cycle “Legacies potential”, curated by Oriol Fontdevila
“The future is written; only the past remains unpredictable,” goes a joke that was told under the yoke of Stalinist totalitarianism. As if following it to the letter, art has abandoned the futuristic orientation it embraced with the avant-garde and modernity of the 20th century and, today, connects its pursuit of uncertainty with legacies that, stemming from the past, play a role in shaping the present.
Legacies in Potential is an exhibition cycle organised by Bòlit, Centre d’Art Contemporani de Girona, which, throughout 2026 and 2027, presents a series of newly commissioned artistic projects based on case studies concerning heritage controversies that originate in, or extend into, the counties of Girona.
