Mies van der Rohe Pavilion + CaixaForum: guided tour as part of the “Pasts Presents” series

This visit compares two key architectural works from the early decades of the 20th century: the Casaramona Factory by Josep Puig i Cadafalch (1912) and the German Pavilion by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1929).

The tour examines their formal and constructive approaches, their heritage value, and the transformation of their uses over time. Casaramona, originally a textile factory combining modernist expression with functional rationality, is today the cultural center CaixaForum. The Pavilion, an icon of the European avant-garde and reconstructed in 1986, now operates as a cultural and exhibition space.

The visit offers insight into how two contemporary works embody different architectural visions and how they have been reinterpreted throughout the century.
