Pindorama. Julia Martins Miranda
Pindorama means “land of the palm trees,” the name used by the indigenous Tupi-Guarani people to refer to the land they inhabited centuries ago, now known as Brazil.
This series is a call to origins. Through vibrant compositions inspired by Brazilian poetry, music, and storytelling, the artist reflects on the warmth, color, and traditions of her homeland. Working across different mediums, she explores the intersection of personal and collective histories, creating paintings that function both as homage and remembrance.
Júlia Martins Miranda reimagines Brazilian cultural traditions through the lens of distance, transforming her homeland into a space of longing, memory, and reinvention. In this state of separation, Brazil is not simply recalled but reconstructed: its energy, rhythms, and iconographies filtered through time and place, reconfigured into a visual language that moves between nostalgia and new mythmaking.
From this series emerges The Arazzo Collection, a special edition in which paintings are reinterpreted as suspended works on brass tubes. This format introduces fluidity and movement, while the brass carries symbolic depth, evoking Brazil’s gold-rich history in Minas Gerais, the artist’s homeland. The collection invites viewers to experience Pindorama in a new dimension, highlighting the landscapes, culture, and spirit of Brazil.
