Pere Noguera. Actions, traces, images and drifts
Pere Noguera’s work has always been characterized by its performativity, its interest in action and the process of creation. Since its beginnings, in the seventies, in a practice close to conceptual and poor art, his work has been distinguished by the use of materials such as ceramics, plastics, paper, photographs, everyday objects, which he resignifies or fragments through recycling, collage, manipulation or transformation of the usual processes of creation and manufacture. In a usual way, in his actions it is simply a matter of letting water, mud, time or other natural elements act to observe their action.
He often works with singular found elements, which become ready-made objects or from archives that he finds by chance or that he collects out of interest in some particular element. Although action and interest in creative processes are at the origin of Noguera’s artistic practice, it is the case that no retrospective exhibition of his specific work in the field of action has ever been held so far throughout his career of more than fifty years.
This is why this exhibition will present for the first time in the spaces of Bòlit_LaRambla and Bòlit_StNicolau the set of the artist’s actions and the works, installations and images that derive from them, as well as documentation, videos and parallel works that can be related to them. In other places, such as the CC La Mercè, there will also be interventions linked to the project.
This exhibition is part of a series of exhibitions dedicated to Noguera’s work that can be seen in 2024 and 2025 at the Filmoteca de Catalunya (Barcelona), Terracotta Museu (La Bisbal) and Can Mario – Fundació Vila Casas (Palafrugell).
