With a presentation by Imma Merino (Cinema Critics Collective of Girona)
The film tells the story of Lazzaro, a peasant from the Lazio region of Italy. The character is characterized by his simplicity and great kindness. Life in the village, called “Inviolata,” is not easy for the peasants, as they are controlled and exploited by the marquise Alfonsina de Luna. In a place where prosperity is hard to find, the other peasants and inhabitants, such as Tancredi, the marquise’s son, take advantage of Lazzaro. Despite everything, that community isolates Lazzaro from the violence of the world to focus it on familial abuse. Things change when they decide to leave that place in search of fortune.
His willingness to help anyone and his trust in everything around him will lead him to a series of adventures and misadventures.
Activity included in the public program of the exhibition “The Idiot.” In collaboration with Cinema Truffaut.
