Book Presentation Maggi Galaxy of Miralda and Stephan Palmié

Maggi Galaxy is a richly illustrated and interdisciplinary publication that examines the aesthetic, cultural and political dimensions of a remarkably global product: the Maggi bouillon cube.

The book expands our understanding of the worldwide circulation of Maggi cubes through anthropological, historical and artistic lenses, offering critical insight into their presence across diverse cultural contexts.

It traces the trajectory through which Maggi seasoning achieved global recognition, highlights its varied local adaptations, and explores the body of knowledge surrounding the cube — not only as a commercial product and brand, but also as a cultural symbol.

Topics addressed include packaging design, promotional posters, advertising strategies and propaganda, gendered imagery on billboards in Africa, as well as cookbooks and culinary traditions in English, Spanish, French and Creole.

Each chapter is accompanied by photographic works by Antoni Miralda, in which the Maggi cube appears as an integral compositional element.
